Welcome to CDYC!

The Capital District Youth Chorale, formerly the Schenectady County Community College Children's Chorus, was founded in 1982 by Diane Warner. The singers are drawn from 67 schools in five counties of the greater Capital District of New York State. Entrance into and advancement within CDYC is based upon audition results, experience, and reliability.

Diverting from the dramatic exploitation of the "day of wrath" by his predecessors, Fauré saw "death as a happy deliverance, an aspiration toward happiness above, rather than as a painful experience." This same spirit is echoed by celebrated Puerto Rican composer Raymond Torres-Santos, whose love for film music is apparent in his melodious Requiem. This will be a New York State premiere. The concert will open with the hugely popular

Adagio for Strings

by Samuel Barber, setting the tone for an inspiring, memorable evening.
